TRIANGLE CONFERENCE ON THEOLOGY AND CULTURE
A Conversation About Human Identity
JUNE 25-27, 7:00-8:30 PM
The Triangle Conference on Theology & Culture (TCTC) is a new initiative for the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill region sponsored by Triangle Grace Church intended to explore cultural issues from a biblical worldview. The mission of TCTC is to equip Christians by increasing our understanding of difficult cultural issues in a way that allows cultural engagement that is thoughtful, compassionate, and transformative.
The conference dates are June 25-27, 2024 starting at 7:00pm each evening. The location of the conference is:
Triangle Grace Church
5001 Tudor Place
Durham, NC 27713
The inaugural TCTC conference is entitled A Conversation About Human Identity. The first evening (June 25) will help address the difficulties of talking through challenging cultural issues within the church and with those who may not share a common worldview. The second and third nights will then model the content of the first evening as two topics associated with human identity are discussed, Human Sexuality (June 26) and Transhumanism (June 27).
It is more difficult than ever to discuss social issues and politics without someone being offended. Say the wrong thing and you will be canceled by others who have a different point of view. Is it possible to talk about challenging issues without causing division and straining friendships? This evening will be given to thinking through ways for the church to be such a place where people can share differing views on tender topics in a way that builds others up rather than tearing one another down.
One of the complicated issues today is navigating different perspectives on sexual orientation and gender identity. Traditional views based on scripture have been significantly challenged by cultural values and life experience. How are we to understand sex and gender, what are ethics connected to sexual activity, and how can we express care and build positive relationships with those who hold differing views on these topics inside and outside of the church? This evening will be given to exploring human sexuality from a biblical worldview.
An emerging issue confronting society and the church is the advancement of technology that interconnects with the human mind and body enhancing longevity, cognition, and well-being. Transhumanism is a philosophical and intellectual movement that embraces such technology and advocates for continued pursuit of human advancement in this manner. This evening will be given to exploring the implications of transhumanism on human identity from a biblical worldview.

CHURCH LEADER LUNCH
Join Dennis Hollinger for a conversation over lunch to talk together about the tensions present in congregations connected to the current political climate. The Triangle region is politically diverse, a diversity which is reflected within the make-up of many of our local churches. As pastors and church leaders, this is a challenging time to lead as another election season approaches.
This event is limited to pastors and paid church staff. It is connected to A Conversation About Human Identity, a conference hosted by Triangle Grace Church's Triangle Conference on Theology & Culture.
*Open to all pastors and paid church staff
