The Church has Left the Building

Weekend of Service

On October 19 and 20, we had the opportunity to sing and visit with residents of Carolina Reserve, wrap diapers at The Diaper Bank, became a baseball buddy for participants in The Miracle League, sorted food at the Food Bank, packaged meals and snacks for local organizations, tabbed Bibles for Pregnancy Support Services, to name a few. It was such an amazing weekend!  We thank you all for your service in our community.

Stewardship Kick-off

On October 13, we gathered in the Family Life Center during the Sunday School hour for refreshments and an opportunity to hear a little about TGC’s planned budget for 2020 as well as from some of the people who have been impacted by the work that has been done, through God, with the resources with which we have been entrusted. The quarterbacks received the footballs and meet with their fellow church members to pass the footballs with pledge cards included.  Footballs will be gathered by the quarterbacks once they’ve made the rounds by November 3, and that evening plan on attending the annual Souper Bowl dinner to celebrate the conclusion of our second Stewardship Campaign as TGC!

Whether the football has arrived on you doorstep or not, there is still time to think about how you give as well as what you give.  Did you know that you can donate appreciated stocks and mutual funds to TGC, usually directly from your brokerage account?  There is a little paperwork involved that TGC can help you with, but consider asking your tax advisor about donating appreciated assets and possibly avoiding capital gains tax as a way to make, or even increase, your annual commitment.

Church Work Day

Our Church Work Day on Saturday, October 5 was a great success.  We appreciate all who volunteered their time to help, with inside and outside activities.  TGC is more beautiful because of you!

Grace for the Journey Women's Retreat

Women, come join us on Sundays, starting September 29 from 10:00-11:00am in the FLC as we study Determined: Living Like Jesus in Every Moment, the bible study written by Heather Dixon, our keynote speaker for Grace for the Journey.  This is a 10-week study you don't want to miss!

*Books are available on Amazon or we do have 10 copies that can be purchased for 15.00 each. Please bring money to the first class.

Sweet Potato Gleaning

Our Sweet Potato Gleaning at Sullivan Farms in Lucama on September 28 was a huge success.  All sweet potatoes we glean will be donated to Iglesia Emanuel Church, which has a weekly meal and food pantry for folks in the Durham community.
